NetFlix now available on PlayStation3 and Wii

playstation3As of last friday, PlayStation3 owners can stream Netflix content to their device. Unlike the Xbox or Roku players, PS3 users need a streaming disc to get Netflix content. The downside of this is that the disc must be left in the drive while streaming, rather than downloading the software from the PlayStation Store.  However, Netflix chose this option because it was the fastest way to bring the service to their customers. By early 2010 the software should be integrated into the PlayStation Store, according to Netflix.  To request a disc, go to www.netflix.com/ps3 All you need is a one-at-a time unlimited plan to start steaming to your PS3.

According to CNET, Nintendo Wii will follow suit and have Netflix streaming by the holiday season. No word yet on whether it will be via disc or app store.
